I went back home to California last week to visit my sister and do a few things (Like host her baby shower and shoot her maternity photos) and had the greatest opportunity to photograph long-time high school sweethearts (We’re talking they’ve been together for almost 14 years! – 14 YEARS) Anh and Cuong for their upcoming wedding this December. This wedding has been a long time coming and I’m so fortunate to have had the chance to contribute to their day (I’m already booked for their wedding date, so no December trips back to California for this girl *sad face*). Anh and Cuong were pretty much up for ANYTHING I wanted. It was pure bliss. There were these amazing mustard fields by my sister’s home that I missed seeing as a child, so they indulged me by shortly stopping and trekking into them as we drove to our shoot location – Sacramento Riverwalk. I’m not a stranger to fading light and was SO EXCITED the light was disappearing fast into twilight when we arrived at Riverwalk. I can’t wait to see what they do with these images for their wedding and look forward to seeing them online. I hope you all enjoy these as much as we all had fun shooting them!

Not Me and Not My Twin | Sacramento Maternity Session with Mary + Henry

For the record, this is not me, and this is not my twin. If I would have earned a dime for all the texts, comments and sometimes frantic messages about my “hidden pregnancy” I received from friends and fans after I published the sneak peeks of my sister’s maternity session online – I would have at least $3!

This is my lovely sister, Mary and her husband, Henry. She and I are 5 years apart, but we look very much alike – except she’s light where I am dark. We are yin and yang, yet have the same personality quirks. We fight like a new World War broke out and love each other just as fiercely. I am so fortunate to have a loving older sister, and even more excited to welcome the first grandchild, first nephew into our family! Henry and my sister have been trying to have a baby for SO DAMN LONG, so little Hudson is a blessing to us all.

Last week I flew out to California to spend the week with my sister and do a bunch of sisterly, dutiful auntie things. I threw her a baby shower (50+ guests and it was a success!), shot her maternity photos, and spent time rubbing her belly and talking to Hudson. It was a week of much needed bonding and family time and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Enjoy her photos below!
